Shooting at Howe Park Sends Four People Injured in the Arden-Arcade Section of Sacramento County

Sacramento authorities are probing a shooting incident that broke out on April 18 2026 at Howe Community Park just as officers were shutting down a large unsanctioned party of hundreds of attendees.

What Led to the Shooting

Sacramento County law enforcement were first called to Howe Community Park just after 6:30 PM on April 18 after learning of subjects reportedly carrying hidden weapons. Soon after, a second call came in mentioning a possible fight happening inside the park.

A sheriff's airship conducted an aerial sweep but was unable to locate the reported altercation. However, deputies found that several hundred individuals had assembled at the park without permission.

When the Shots Rang Out

Officers started clearing the unauthorized gathering by surrounding the park and issuing commands over loudspeakers instructing the hundreds present to leave immediately. Nearly 15 minutes were provided for the crowd to leave.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that 20 to 25 rounds of ammunition rang out. The shots sparked chaos as hundreds ran. Officers swiftly started looking for those injured.

The Shooting Victims

In total, four people were found to have been shot. The shooting victims — including a female and three males each apparently in their mid to late twenties — were taken to hospitals in the Sacramento area. Medical personnel reported that two victims sustained immediate injuries, one person had injuries of a moderate nature, and one suffered minor injuries. According to authorities, all four were in stable condition.

Sacramento fire crews assisted at the location and aided in treating those with gunshot wounds prior to hospital transport.

Evidence at the Scene

Most of the gunfire appears to have taken place adjacent to Cottage Way close to the Home Depot store situated at the 2200 Howe Avenue block. CSI personnel found extra shell casings along Cottage Way. Round impacts were discovered in the wrought iron perimeter fencing alongside the nearby Home Depot. This ballistic evidence pointed to that one of the gunmen had been sending rounds south from along Cottage Way toward the Home Depot store. The nearby Home Depot was locked down while the scene was active. Crime scene technicians and detectives stayed at the location through the early morning hours.

Detainees in Solano County

Details gathered via scanner audio established that a vehicle identified as a Kia had been detained in Solano County California. Four detainees were taken into custody. Deputies were traveling to Solano County to return them to Sacramento for processing in Sacramento more info County. Video reviewed at the scene revealed that two individuals had fired weapons.
